![]() ![]() There is still a lot to learn before the second and third phases, and we expect public health guidance will continue to evolve over the summer and beyond. The pilot phase of our reopening is open only to fully vaccinated employees. ![]() Some important things to consider are the level of innovation required of the team or role and the extent to which this is driven by in-person collaboration, the level of focus and bandwidth required from management to guide and develop the team or individual, and the level to which physical presence in the office is required to fulfill the team's or role's responsibilities. The safety and well-being of employees should always come first, and a feedback loop is crucial to success. How should companies think of their return to in-person working? I've heard from many people that they miss seeing one another in real, off-camera life. Productivity aside, however, our employees really like each other. Brainstorms are much harder to conduct remotely than they are in-person. Others, particularly roles that are heavily driving innovation, like new product development, are likely to need some in-person time. My hypothesis is that functions and roles with a solid, repeatable process in place will continue to function well-or even more productively-remotely. What is driving Zocdoc's return to the office? To that end, Zocdoc started a pilot late last month to test a return to its SoHo site with a limited group of workers. But getting nearly 500 staffers back into the office can be tricky and requires constant feedback about what works and what doesn't. Although it is possible for employees to be productive while working from home, certain business operations require immediate, face-to-face interaction. Medical appointment–booking platform Zocdoc thrives in an in-person office setting, says CEO Oliver Kharraz. ![]()
